The Universe micro-site redesign for AETN International created a rich and entertaining experience for the user. The design had to be simple enough for AETN’s nine international partners to add local content but elegant and intelligent enough to show the complexities of space. We played on the vast size and weightlessness of space and integrated it into our design by running a wider than usual page and incorporated a floating menu bar. Images from NASA play in the background as a slideshow and clickable informational boxes detail what they are about. Multimedia was integrated into the micro-site allowing the visitor to view past episodes of The Universe. In addition to the redesign of the micro-site elements, we designed and created a companion flash game called Astrological Challenge where players find the celestial bodies that make up an astrological sign. Once the player identifies the constellation deeper background information about the zodiac, its history and cultures are revealed.
